Top 5 Breakfast Spots in Santa Fe
I’m always up for a good breakfast and Santa Fe, with its myriad of amazing food options, doesn’t disappoint. Go hungry and go bold—bring friends so you can share. Or not. I won’t judge you:
When I’m meeting up with my local pals, I head to Modern General Feed & Seed – an off-the-beaten track, delicious nook for breakfast with an inventive menu and never a line to get in/find a table. It’s low-key and I like to head here after I’ve walked the dog at the big park in town. My go-to? The green chile cilantro corncakes are to die for. But if I’m in a sweet mood, I go for the acai teffcakes. Wash it down with a “Gilded Milk” beverage of Anti-inflammatory turmeric and super-hydrating tremella with cinnamon, ginger, honey and you’re set for the day!

In the heart of town, you have the classic: Pasqual’s. Don’t let the crowds deter you – it’s always busy because this joint is fabulous for food any time of day. No private tables? Sit at the communal table – you always meet amazing people – then tuck into literally any of their offerings. I like their Chile Relleno con Huevos, but there are also interesting and tasty combinations like their Huevos Motulenos: eggs with sautéed banana, feta and more. Go out on a limb and order something you don’t get anywhere else – you won’t regret it.
In to baked goods? Hit up the breakfast joint, Dolina. There’s a case on the left when you go in where you can order a quick coffee and pastry to go (or maybe snack on while you wait for a table). If you’re sitting down to dine, the enormous breakfast burrito is a win, but I also love their Salmon Tartine, which makes me feel “healthy” (while I have, of course, already consumed something delightful from the aforementioned pastry case!).

If you’re willing to drive ten minutes out of town and go where the locals go, there are two breakfasts that are divine. The first is Café Fina – nothing fussy, just all homemade goodness. They even have a drive-through where you can pick up a coffee and blueberry muffin or slice of quiche on your way to/from a hike. But it’s worth stopping in for more. And while I’m not generally a pancake person, if you’re going to taste some, this is the joint. Order Fina’s “Cloud Cakes” for a sublime experience. I also always get their bhakti chai with fresh ginger juice and a glass of their “green juice”. Maybe grab a chocolate chip cookie “for later”, while you’re at it.
Last, but certainly not least is Harry’s Roadhouse. It’s a place where everything on its eclectic menu is delicious; I’m not sure how they do it. This restaurant has even been featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners Drive-ins & Dives! But for breakfast, my husband and I bee-line to the breakfast burrito – it’s a tossup whether we like Harry or Fina’s breakfast burrito more… maybe two breakfasts are in order?!
